Hooray Friday!

- I went to see the National last night for their second of two shows at the 9:30 Club. While I wasn't quite as blown away as I was the last time I saw them, it was still a hell of a show. They look a little tired though... but I guess that's what being on the road since May will do to a band (and they have dates scheduled until the beginning of Dec). In any event, the Washington Post had an article on them last week that gives some insight on the differences between Alligator and Boxer.

- Spank Rock is releasing a new EP, Bangers & Cash sometime soon. The news is not so much the music as it is the album cover. YIKES - there are some serious motors in the back of those Hondas! Gorilla vs. Bear has it posted, but beware - this is probably not something you want popping up on your screen at work.

- Aquarium Drunkard has posted the tracks from Neil Young's live album, Time Fades Away. The sounds quality on this vinyl transfer is pretty damn good. This is vintage Neil Young at its finest.
.
- Here's a Philly shout out for you. From NPR.org: "Philadelphia native Adam Dorn, a.k.a. Mocean Worker, has assembled a collection of Manhattan's most revered underground soul, jazz and funk players to perform blissfully funky jazz rave-ups on his new album, Cinco de MoWo!" You can listen to their concert from WXPN and World Cup Cafe here.

- The MTV Video Music Awards are on this Sunday. MTV just announced that Britney Spears will open the VMA this Sunday from Las Vegas. Shouldn't she be home watching her kids or something?? I'll be checking it out, but only for a possible Scarlett Johansson sighting.
